PROGECT:

I'm thinking of adding someone's patches for Progect and rebuilding a beta of it.

I also need to make sure it can handle opaque data from other desktop applications (explanation further on).

So, I will probably try and do that within two weeks.

PDESK:

PDesk is not likely to have much activity for a while, unless someone gives me patches, in which case I will certainly build another

New DB MySql 4
Submitted by Judd on Sunday, October 23, 2005 - 18:47

Sourceforge is updating to MySql 4 so I've copied and moved the drupal web site over to the new servers.

You should have not problems with the new site but if you do, send a note to progect@yahoogroups.com with NewDb in the title.

Progect and PDesk

Progect is a project management/outliner program for the Palm OS.

PDesk, a companion to progect, provides a way to edit progect files on your computer and a conduit for moving files to/from your Palm device.

PDesk and Progect are both released under the GPL.

How to make a Pdesk Interface translation
Submitted by gasolin on Sunday, August 8, 2004 - 23:12Hint | Manual

This document is an easy guide to show how to translate Pdesk interface into your native language, and how to examine them with Pdesk.

requirements:
* Zip software that can extract .tgz file format, such as 7-zip, winzip, winrar.
* Python language interpreter, which you can download at www.python.org, to compile the string file.

1. You need the string file to start the translation procedure.
So you must download the source code from sourceforge first.
Extract the .tgz package, then enter pdesk/fr/ folder to get the
file named 'pdesk.po', its the string mapping file for your translation purpose.

Sync fails or PDesk exits: log shows: socket.error: (10048, 'Address already in use')
Submitted by Judd on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 01:23FAQ | Problem | Windows

This FAQ addresses a known problem with PDesk which sometimes causes PDesk to just exit and
sometimes causes a sync to fail. If you see this message in the PDesk log:
socket.error: (10048, 'Address already in use')
then you have this problem.

One note: 10048 is the error number and not the port already in use.

PDesk has a companion C program which manages the integration with the Palm Desktop.
PDesk and this program communicate via socket 9999. Other programs might be using this same
port. This can cause PDesk to exit or, if the port is in use when you sync, your sync could fail.

PDesk plugins development and FAQ
Submitted by tomas on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 - 02:16FAQ

Requirements:
Download and install Python from http://www.python.org/
Download and install wxPython, corresponding to the Python version you have, from http://www.wxpython.org/

Python is a programming language, in which PDesk and Pdesk plugins are coded.
wxPython is a GUI (graphical user interface) library, that will allow to add GUI to your plugin. You can use GUI for simple options, "OK" or "YES/NO" buttons, for example. Though, wxPython is not necessary, if you plan to develop a plugin that has no GUI.

Laurent Burgbacher published very useful documentation for developers of plugins:

Version 0.30Pre-Release 5 (Colour Icons)
Submitted by rprice on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 14:49

I have just released a new (and probably final) pre-release version of Progect 0.30.

The main change is that Progect now includes colour icon support, thanks to Blake Winton, however PDesk does not currently support colour icons, so you may have problems, most likely wrong icons showing up, I wouldn't expect crashes.

We also have an improved Chinese translation thanks to Danny Zeng.

I have also added the ability to click on the progress bar of a "numeric" type to change the *doneness* of that item.

You will want B5 rather than B4 if you downloaded that already, B4 had a bug in it where you could have conflicts between some internal icons the [+] in the project list in particular.
